About

Engineering failure knowledge, made usable.

Normpal is a qualification intelligence platform that surfaces documented failure precedent your test plan and FMEA miss, for teams building complex, mission-critical hardware.

A German engineering company. The platform runs inside your environment, so qualification material never has to leave it.

What Normpal does

Cross-industry failure review

We map your materials, interfaces and operating conditions against documented failures from aerospace, chemical, marine and industrial systems, back to the 1960s. The outcome is a list of precedents that share the physics of your design, each one traceable to its source.

Test plan and FMEA gap analysis

Your qualification plan is checked against that evidence to show which assumptions it does not yet support. Teams use it to see what their current tests actually prove, and what they do not.

Same-physics precedent matching

A precedent counts when the mechanism matches, not when the product does. A seal failure in a chemical valve can be the relevant warning for a marine fitting, and we show why.

On-premises deployment

The platform is deployed inside your environment so qualification material never has to leave it. Integration is scoped as part of the engagement.

What makes Normpal different

Evidence from outside your own history

FMEA tools such as APIS IQ, Isograph, Relyence and XFMEA work mostly from data your company already holds, which limits you to the failure modes your teams already know. Normpal works from documented incident records, service reports and recalls across industries, back to the 1960s.

It checks the plan rather than recording it

PLM platforms like Siemens Teamcenter and PTC Windchill are systems of record: they capture the work your engineers do. Normpal adds the missing check — whether a risk is real, and whether the chosen test can actually expose it.

Every finding carries its source

Each precedent arrives with the document it came from, so your engineers can read it and judge it themselves. Nothing is returned as an unsourced assertion.

It supports judgment instead of replacing it

Normpal does not assign final FMEA ratings. It shows where a rating lacks supporting evidence and leaves the decision with the responsible engineer.

Built for environments that cannot use cloud AI

The platform runs on your infrastructure, handled only by named Normpal engineers, with nothing sent to third-party AI models or APIs. Material shared with us is deleted within ten working days with a signed destruction certificate.

Who Normpal is for

Engineering organisations where a field failure is expensive, slow to fix, or both.

  • Defence hardware manufacturers with in-house R&D and qualification teams
  • Aerospace and space teams running qualification campaigns against mission profiles
  • Maritime and naval systems suppliers working to long service-life requirements
  • Automotive, energy, rail and industrial equipment makers where field failure carries high cost
  • Engineering, test and quality functions responsible for FMEA and test planning
  • CTOs and Heads of R&D accountable for technical risk before design freeze
  • CFOs and programme leadership tracking where technical uncertainty turns into cost and delay

The team behind Normpal

Hardware fails in ways nobody planned to test for.

Not through carelessness. Teams write qualification plans from the evidence available to them, which is almost always their own organisation’s. That evidence is deep, but it is bounded, and the boundary is where programmes lose time and money.

Melih spent nine years in aeronautical R&D watching it from the inside: campaigns that passed, then field failures caused by a mechanism someone had already documented. The knowledge existed. It sat in another company’s incident report, another sector’s recall notice, another decade’s investigation.

A tin whisker destroyed a communications satellite in 1998; the mechanism was published in 1952. The same physics took out the target-detection system on US Navy Phoenix missiles in 1989, documented since 1946. Thirty-two Bay Bridge anchor rods fractured from hydrogen embrittlement in 2013, a mechanism NASA wrote up in 1966. Every one was preventable with evidence that already existed.

It goes unused because a report from another industry, about another product, reads as irrelevant — until you decompose it far enough to see the physics is identical. That decomposition is the work, and it is what we built.

We are four founders who hit the same gap from different directions: aeronautical engineering and R&D, AI systems for environments where being wrong is expensive, and commercial work across European defence manufacturing. Defence production is scaling faster than qualification can keep up with, and the constraint is not factories or funding — it is proving a design is ready before it gets there. Normpal is what we wanted to exist.

How working with Normpal works

Start with a conversation

Thirty minutes is enough to pick a suitable product and agree scope. Reach Olha Siuta at +49 170 4632135.

Work under mutual NDA

A mutual NDA is signed before any material moves, with no residuals clause. You can redact anything sensitive first — the review is built around customer-controlled redaction.

One product at a time

Engagements start with a single product rather than a whole portfolio. You provide one redacted test plan or FMEA and roughly 90 minutes with the responsible engineer.

Handled by named personnel

Material is handled only by identified Normpal engineers. You are working with the founding team, not a support tier.

Controlled retention and destruction

Anything shared with us is deleted within ten working days, and we provide signed written confirmation once deletion is complete.

Frequently asked questions

Does Normpal replace our FMEA or qualification process?

No. It adds evidence to the process you already run, and flags assumptions worth a second look.

Does Normpal assign new FMEA ratings?

No. It shows where a rating lacks supporting evidence. Your engineers own the final call.

What do you need from us to start?

One redacted test plan or FMEA, and 90 minutes with the responsible engineer.

Can we redact sensitive information?

Yes. The review is built around customer-controlled redaction.

Where is our information processed?

Inside your own environment. Normpal is deployed on your infrastructure, and nothing is sent to external AI models or third-party APIs.

Do you retain our material?

Anything shared with us is deleted within ten working days, with a signed destruction certificate.

Is this only for defence?

Defence and high-reliability hardware come first. The approach applies to aerospace, maritime, automotive and industrial systems.
